Polk County, FL : One person killed, seven injured in I-4 crash near Osceola-Polk line on Saturday afternoon, December 19, 2015

woman was killed and seven others injured Saturday afternoon in a three-car crash on Interstate 4 east, near the Osceola-Polk county line.

The eastbound lanes of I-4 are shut down between exit 48 to County Road 557 and exit 58 to County Road 532. Officials expect to re-open them around 8 p.m., according to Polk County Sheriff's Office spokesman Scott Wilder said.

The crash happened around 4 p.m. in stop-and-go traffic just after the exit to U.S. Highway 27, Wilder said. A Nissan driver hit the back of a Honda SUV, sending it into a Chrysler van.

A woman in the Nissan was killed. The driver and two young children in the car were taken to local hospitals.

Four people in the SUV -- two children and two adults -- were also taken to hospitals, Wilder said.

People in the van were not injured.

Deputies did not immediately release the names of the people involved.
