Montgomery,AL : Fiery crash kills passenger, injures 14-year-old driver in Hale County on September, Sunday 17th 2017
A fiery crash in Hale County killed a passenger Saturday evening, and officials have not yet been able to identify the victim due to burns.
The driver of the car, a 14-year-old who has not been identified, also sustained injuries and was airlifted to Children's Hospital in Birmingham.
The crash occurred on Hale County 30, about three miles southeast of Sawyerville, according to a press release.
The 14-year-old was driving a 1998 Ford Taurus that left the roadway, struck a tree and caught fire. Neither the driver nor the passenger were wearing seat belts, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences is trying to confirm the identity of the passenger. An investigation of the collision is ongoing.
