Lansing,MI : A wrong-way driver caused a head-on collisio on Monday, October, 9th 2017
A wrong-way driver caused a head-on collision early Monday on U.S. 127.
Isabella County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were originally dispatched to the call of the wrong-way driver at 6:22 a.m. on U.S. 127 near Vernon Road in Isabella Township, according to Sheriff Michael Main.
Multiple calls to 911 occurred as a vehicle was traveling north bound in the south bound lane of U.S. 127.
“Deputies were unable to catch up to and stop the wrong-way driver prior to a head on collision between that vehicle and two other vehicles,” Main said in a news release.
Drivers from the vehicles were taken to a local emergency department for treatment of what was believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
“It is unclear where the wrong-way driver entered the expressway at this time but it is believed to be the south business loop at Mt. Pleasant or prior,” he said. “It is unknown at this time why or what caused the driver to get onto the expressway the wrong direction.”
The case is still under investigation.
Assisting were the Isabella County Central Dispatch, Mobile Medical Response, Clare City Police Department and Isabella Northeast Fire Department.
