Madras,OR : Two injured in rollover crash on may, Thursday 25th 2017
Two people were charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants following a single-vehicle rollover crash May 25, on U.S. Highway 26, on the Warm Springs grade.
Oregon State Police responded to the crash near milepost 108, at about 3:02 p.m. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2000 Subaru, operated by Aurel Stinson, 48, of Warm Springs, was traveling westbound on Highway 26, when an altercation broke out between her and the right front passenger, Fabian Sutterlee Jr., 42, also of Warm Springs.
Sutterlee apparently grabbed the steering wheel and forced the Subaru onto the soft shoulder. Stinson attempted to regain control of the Subaru, but it traveled onto a dirt slope, where it rolled onto its roof.
Stinson and Sutterlee were both transported to St. Charles Madras for treatment of their injuries, however, Sutterlee was later airlifted to St. Charles Bend.
The OSP investigation revealed that both Stinson and Sutterlee were impaired, which led to both being charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants — since Sutterlee had grabbed the steering wheel.
He was also charged with reckless driving, reckless endangering, fourth-degree assault and first-degree criminal mischief.
OSP troopers were assisted on scene by the Oregon Department of Transportation, the Jefferson County Fire Department, Jefferson County Emergency Medical Services, Warm Springs Police Department and Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
