PALO ALTO, CA : strikes, kills person in Palo Alto on Sunday, 16th April 2023
Caltrain said at 10:34 p.m. that the southbound train that hit and killed a pedestrian earlier Sunday evening in Palo Alto was released to make all station stops.
The train was released at 10:22 p.m. Northbound tracks were re-opened through the area at 9:48 p.m. with speed restrictions of 20 mph.
The San Mateo County Sheriff's Transit Police Bureau is investigating the fatal accident, which happened at 9:19 p.m. at the Churchill Avenue grade crossing in Palo Alto.
There were approximately 46 passengers onboard with no other injuries reported.
This is Caltrain's second fatality of the year.
