Two motorcyclists were taken to the hospital Sunday morning after a car pulled out in front of them, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The driver of the car, Jason Edward Watkins, 44 of Panama City Beach, was taken to jail on DUI-related charges, FHP said.
Officers said the motorcyclists were driving east on Thomas Drive near the intersection of Silver Sands Road at about 10:30 a.m. when a car being driven by Watkins suddenly pulled in front of them. The motorcyclists then crashed into the car, FHP reported.
The motorcyclists were later taken to the hospital with serious injuries, officers reported.
FHP reported that Watkins’s blood alcohol level was .225, almost three times the legal limit of .08. He was charged with DUI causing bodily injury and DUI causing property damage.
The names of the motorcyclists have yet to be released.
