Caddo Parish, LA : Man dead after being hit by 2 vehicles on West Bert Kouns Industrial Loop on Monday night, July 4, 2016

An overnight accident left a pedestrian dead in west Shreveport.

Caddo Parish Sheriff’s deputies and Caddo Parish Fire District No. 4 were dispatched to West Bert Kouns and South Shrevepark just after 11 p.m. Monday following the report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

Nicholas Meziere, 26, from the Monroe area, was found dead in the roadway.

Sheriff’s Lt. Michael Gray, of the Caddo Sheriff’s Traffic Safety Unit, said an investigation showed Meziere and another man crossed Bert Kouns to fire some fireworks. When the two later crossed back, Meziere dropped some of the trash he was carrying. When he stopped to pick it up, he was struck by a 2003 Honda vehicle. Moments later, a second passing vehicle, a 2002 Chevy Monte Carlo, struck the victim while he was lying in the roadway.

The accident remains under investigation.
