Wilson, OK : Ringling woman dies in crash on Mulberry Street and U.S. Highway 70 on Tuesday, May 3, 2016
A Ringling woman died Tuesday following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Mulberry Street and U.S. Highway 70.
Wilson Police Chief Felix Hernandez said Diana Ashley was behind the wheel of a 1999 Oldsmobile about 5:11 p.m. when she attempted to exit the Wilson Travel Shop.
“She stopped at the stop sign, but she failed to look west where there was oncoming traffic,” Hernandez said. “She was hit broadside by a Tahoe, driven by Amanda Turner, Healdton.”
Ashley was pinned briefly before being extricated through the passenger door.
The chief said she was taken to Mercy Hospital Healdton, where she died a few hours later.
Lorrine Whittaker, identified as Ashley’s daughter and a passenger in the car, was also taken to the Healdton medical facility where she was treated and released.
Turner, and her husband, Wiley, a passenger in the SUV, were both treated and released from Mercy Hospital Ardmore.
The couple’s two children were not injured;Hernandez said seatbelts were in use in both vehicles.
