Grand Junction,CO : Two hurt in separate crashes on may, thursday 4th 2017
A bicyclist suffered a head laceration after the he collided with a car near Fifth Street and Kennedy Avenue at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department, the cyclist was either riding on the wrong side of the road or had been riding on the sidewalk when he was struck by a woman driving a car.
The injured man refused medical treatment, Grand Junction police officer David Keech said.
“We’re still trying to figure out what happened,” he said Thursday afternoon. “The story from him and the story from her don’t match.”
The man apparently was biking northbound on Fifth Street and was hit when the driver turned southbound from Kennedy Avenue, Keech said.
Law enforcement responded to a series of area crashes Thursday afternoon. Among those accidents was a collision between a motorcycle and a car that happened north of Patterson Road on 12th Street.
That crash, in which a woman allegedly turned in front of a motorcycle, resulted in a collision that left the male motorcycle rider with serious injuries. Grand Junction police said the man was taken to a local hospital, but his injuries were not considered to be life-threatening.
