A 58-year-old Madison man was killed in a one-car accident Friday afternoon in the Town of LaGrange, the Walworth County Sheriff's Office said.

The driver was identified as Marc R. Semrow. The sheriff's office said "a medical event" may have contributed to the crash and an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact case of death.

According to an initial investigation, Semrow was in a Nissan driving westbound on Highway 12, west of County Highway H. Just after 3 p.m., the car began to swerve, crossed the center line, continued onto a field and eventually struck a tree.

Town of LaGrange Rescue Squad members attempted life-saving measures on the victim, who was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
