ASHLAND COUNTY, OH : Driver involved in crash killed after walking on I-71 on Friday, 19th February 2021

State troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating after a driver involved in a crash on I-71 northbound was struck while crossing the southbound lanes near milepost 183 in Ashland County Thursday, according to the state patrol office.

Troopers said at 10:07 p.m. a 2014 Kia Sorento was “actively being reported as a reckless operator," the release stated.

The vehicle, driven by Tyrrell Dushaun Louden, 38, of Atlanta, Georgia, crashed into the center median guardrail as troopers were being dispatched to the area.

The OSHP said Louden walked into the southbound lanes and was struck by a 2015 Chevrolet Trax just before troopers arrived.

Louden was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Chevy Trax, a 50-year-old man from Lancaster, was not injured and remained at the scene. He is not considered at fault, the OSHP said.
