Charlotte, NC : Impaired man ejected from car after striking disabled vehicle on I-485 near Providence Road on Thursday morning, October 30, 2014

Investigators say a man involved in a Thursday morning accident on the freeway was impaired. The wreck happened just before 11:30 a.m. on I-485 near Providence Road. Troopers say a 20-year-old man was impaired due to prescription medications when he struck a disabled vehicle that was parked on the side of the roadway. The driver, who officials said was ejected from the vehicle, was taken to Carolinas Medical Center-Main with serious injuries. He was also charged with driving while impaired. Police closed I-485 inner loop at mile marker 54, from John Street to Providence Road for just under two hours while crews worked the scene.
