Las Vegas, NV : Moped rider critically injured in crash at Desert Inn Road and Valley View Boulevard on Wednesday afternoon, April 20, 2016

A moped rider was critically injured this afternoon at Desert Inn Road and Valley View Boulevard, according to Metro Police.

Officers responded to the accident about 12:45 p.m. The 31-year-old man was taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, police said.

The man was traveling north on Valley View when he apparently drove over an oil spill that made the scooter slide out of control, throwing him from the 2015 Tao Tao moped, police said. .
