Tulsa, OK : Stilwell man killed in Adair County crash on Sunday, February 12, 2017
A Stilwell man died Sunday after being struck by another vehicle while he was pulled over to get his mail in Adair County.
The collision occurred about 3:10 p.m. on County Road 770 west of County Road 4630, about 8.5 miles west of Stilwell, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.
Otto Vaughan, 84, of Stilwell, was traveling in a Toyota Rav 4 and had pulled over to retrieve his mail, the OHP reported.
Vaughan’s vehicle was struck by a 2001 Mercury Sable making an improper turn, according to the OHP.
Vaughan was transported to the Northeastern Health System by Pafford EMS. He was pronounced dead by medical staff, the OHP reported.
The driver of the Mercury Sable, Shannon Renee Jurn, 43, of Stilwell, and a passenger were also taken to local hospitals where they were treated and released, according to the OHP.
Vaughan was not wearing a seat belt when the collision occurred; Jurn and her passenger were wearing seat belts, the OHP reported.
