Bladen County, NC : Woman injured after crash involving 18-wheeler on Highway 701 near Wade Smith Road on Monday morning, April 25, 2016

One woman was taken to the hospital after an accident involving an 18-wheeler just before 11:00 Monday morning.
According to troopers with the State Highway Patrol, Elizabeth Cashwell, 72 of Garland, ran into the back of a parked 18-wheeler on Highway 701 near Wade Smith Road in Bladen County. The 18-wheeler had its flashers on.
Emergency responders arrived to the scene and found Cashwell trapped in her SUV. Crews cut her out of the vehicle, and she was then airlifted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center with a compound fracture to one of her legs, according to troopers.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.
Cashwell was cited with failure to reduce speed.
