Seattle, WA : Woman killed in three-car collision in Renton on Wednesday, 21st September 2016
An unidentified woman was killed in a crash involving three vehicles in Renton on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Around 3:15 p.m., officers were called to the incident at the intersection of South Grady Way and Shattuck Avenue South, police said. Authorities temporarily closed the area to investigate.
A preliminary investigation found that one of the vehicles, a sedan, was speeding and ran a red light at the intersection, striking a second vehicle, also a sedan, police said. The woman, whose age is unknown, was in the second vehicle, police said.
The impact forced her vehicle into an SUV, which was waiting at the light, police said.The driver of the speeding vehicle is being held for investigation of driving under the influence, police said.
Drivers of the other vehicles suffered minor injuries, police said.
Medical investigators will formally identify the woman.
