MILWAUKEE, WI : Woman critically hurt when hit by car in Milwaukee on Wednesday, 5th October 2016
A woman was critically injured early Wednesday morning when hit by a car on Milwaukee's south side, police said. It happened just before 2 a.m. near Greenfield Avenue and Cesar Chavez Drive.
Police said the car drove away after striking the victim while she was crossing the street.
Surveillance footage from Mian’s Oil Co. shows the woman walk onto the roadway and pause. The car turned right at the last second, sending her airborne. Three to four minutes passed before anyone checked on her.
"Nobody did nothing," said the owner of Mian’s. "I don't know why they left. I am really sad."
The woman is hospitalized in critical condition.
Area business owners hope by sharing surveillance video, police will be able to locate the driver of the car.
Investigators have not yet released details about the vehicle they're seeking, but the footage shows a light-colored sedan striking the woman.
