Perry, FL : 63-year-old William French died in a motorcycle crash in Taylor County on Thursday afternoon, March 3, 2016

One person is dead following a crash in Taylor County on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, around 2:30 p.m. Thursday, a F250 pickup truck with two occupants was traveling northbound on Beach Road in front of a Suzuki motorcycle.

Investigators say the driver of the motorcycle attempted to pass the pickup truck in a legal passing zone. The driver of the pickup truck, 40-year-old Greg Oestreich, of Illinois, then slowed down to turn left on Cedar Island Drive and failed to yield the right-of-way to the passing motorcycle. The motorcycle collided with the left rear of the pickup.

The driver of the motorcycle, 63-year-old William French, of Texas, was killed in the crash.

The occupants of the pickup truck were not injured.

Charges are pending the findings of the traffic homicide investigation.
