Kankakee, IL : 54-year-old dead in crash in Iroquois County on Thursday, November 10, 2016

Mark S. Schmid, of Cissna Park, was killed after his tractor collided with a large truck in Iroquois County.

According to Vermilion County Coroner Peggy Johnson, the 54-year-old Schmid was pronounced dead at Carle Hoopeston Regional Hospital at 4:05 p.m. There was an autopsy Thursday.

Schmid was airlifted to the hospital from the crash scene, 300N Road at the intersection of 1300E Road in Pigeon Grove Township.

The driver of the truck, who has not been identified, was airlifted to Carle Hospital in Urbana in serious condition.

Sheriff's police said both vehicles had farm equipment attached. The crash remains under investigation.
