THOMSON, IL : Clinton, Iowa man dies in Thomson-area crash on Wednesday, 9th November 2016

The man killed Wednesday when his car crashed into a semitractor-trailer hauling grain on Argo Fay Route east of state Route 84 was identified Wednesday afternoon as 31-year-old Jacob Goebel of Clinton, Iowa.

According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department, the truck driver, Dustin Hook, 35, of Fulton, was eastbound on Argo Fay, waiting to turn left into a driveway, when Goebel’s car crashed into his trailer from behind.

Goebel died at the scene. Hook was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation.
