The driver who allegedly rear-ended a PedalPub in Minneapolis Wednesday night was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and criminal vehicular injury, according to police.Twelve people were injured when, police say, 35-year-old Mershon Corbett drove into the back of the PedalPub on the Hennepin Avenue Bridge over the Mississippi River.Eight of the 12 people injured were treated at a hospital and released; the other four remained at Hennepin County Medical Center in satisfactory condition Thursday afternoon, an HCMC spokesperson said. None have life-threatening injuries.Corbett was booked into the Hennepin County jail; he has not been charged.
The Twin Cities PedalPub was heading south toward downtown Minneapolis on the Hennepin Avenue Bridge just before 10 p.m. when it was rear-ended by a Chevrolet Monte Carlo, according to a Minneapolis police spokesman.The PedalPub tipped over, and several of its riders were pinned beneath it. Passers-by lifted the vehicle back onto its wheels, freeing the riders.Pedal-powered bars operated by the same company were involved in high-profile May attacks by bicyclists hurling water balloons and wielding water guns.Earlier this week, Minneapolis prosecutors dismissed most of the charges filed in connection with the attacks.City Attorney Susan Segal said there wasn't enough evidence to continue with the cases against four men.said there wasn't enough evidence to continue with the cases against four men.
