Garden City, KS : Three injured in DUI accident on Saturday, June 3, 2017

Garden City police say three local residents were injured in a DUI-related accident Saturday.

Officers responded to the intersection of Spruce Street and U.S. Highway 50 at about 7:12 p.m. They discovered a silver 2009 Jeep Wrangler and a black 2013 Dodge Charger with significant damage. The driver of the Charger, Ryna Juache, 17, was trapped inside the vehicle and was removed by Garden City Fire/Rescue with the Jaws of Life.

Her passenger, Tiffany Guerrero, 21, was injured in the accident but able to exit the vehicle on her own.

The driver of the Jeep, Kolby Edwards, 33, also was injured but was able to exit the vehicle before the arrival of law enforcement.

Police say Edwards was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on U.S. 50 when he ran a red light and collided with Juache, who was eastbound, in the intersection. Police say evidence suggested Edwards was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Juache and Guerrero were taken to St. Catherine Hospital, where they were treated and released. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Edwards was arrested on allegations of DUI, failure to obey a traffic control device and a seat belt violation.
