Fort Smith, AR : A person died and a child was injured during an accident on February, Monday 26th 2018

A person died and a child was injured during an accident involving a motorcycle and an Alma school bus that took place in Crawford County on Monday afternoon.

Liz Chapman, public information officer for Arkansas State Police, said the accident happened on Arkansas 282 just east of Rudy at around 4 p.m. Monday. The driver of the motorcycle was killed in the accident. There were 19 children on the school bus, which was from the Alma School District.

“18 of those children were relocated, or reloaded, onto a new bus, or their parents picked them up on the scene,” Chapman said. “One child off the bus was transported to a local hospital with very minor injuries, just for precaution.”

Chapman said Monday evening that the next of kin had to be notified before ASP could release the motorcyclist’s name or age.
