EDGERTON, WI : Fatal car crash in Edgerton on Thursday, October 6th, 2016

Police say a woman has died after a car crash in Edgerton.

On Thursday afternoon, Rock County Deputies, Wisconsin State Patrol, and Edgerton Police and Fire responded to US Highway 51 near West County Road M, for a head on vehicle accident.

Responders arrived to find a Hyundai in the west ditch and a Silver Volkswagen in the middle of the road. Deputies say evidence shows the driver of the Volkswagen failed to negotiate a curve and had fully drifted into the southbound lane of travel. The driver of the other car attempted to avoid the Volkswagen but was struck partially head on.

The 39-year-old Janesville man, who was driving the Hyundai, was taken to a hospital with a broken arm and leg. The 46-year-old Edgerton, who was the driver of the Volkswagen, was taken to a hospital with critical injuries, and she was later pronounced dead.

Rock County Sheriff’s Reconstruction Team are investigating the incident, and any further information and names will be released at a later time.
