Franklin, WI : Children escape injury in Franklin school bus crash on Wednesday, April 13, 2016
Forty-two children escaped injury Wednesday when a 71-year-old school bus driver suffered a medical emergency before crashing into a car in Franklin, police said.
The crash was reported shortly after 4 p.m. at the intersection of W. Forest Home and W. Rawson avenues, according to a news release from Franklin police.
The bus, operated by First Student, Inc., had departed from Country Dale elementary school in Franklin before the collision with a Honda CR-V that was stopped at a red light, according to the release.
Personnel from the school who went to the scene of the crash turned children on the bus over to their parents, according to the release.
The driver was taken to a hospital for medical treatment, according to the release that provided no information on the driver's gender or condition.
A Franklin police dispatcher said no further information on the crash was available Wednesday night.
