Goldendale, WA : Gasoline tanker truck crashed and spilled, closing State Route 14 in Washington on Sunday, February 28, 2016

State Route 14 in Washington is closed after a tanker truck crashed, rolled over and spilled gasoline just after 11 a.m. Sunday.

Washington State Patrol say the truck driver sustained minor injuries after falling asleep near milepost 133 and running off the road. The driver was transported to a Goldendale hospital.

The closure is expected to last until 8 p.m., authorities said, because of the possible danger of an explosion from the fumes.

No homes are in danger and no one has been evacuated, police said.

Eastbound drivers can use U.S. 97 to avoid the closure; westbound drivers can detour on State Route 221. Drivers wishing to avoid the mess altogether can take Interstate 84 in Oregon.
