A Jarrettsville man was killed in an early-morning, single- vehicle accident Sunday that may have been partly because of icy roads, the Harford County Sheriff's Office reported.
Jonathan David Mickey, 37, lost control of his 1997 Mercedes sedan at about 1:21 a.m. while driving north on Old Federal Hill Road just past West Jarrettsville Road, according to a news release. His street address was not available Sunday morning.
His car struck a telephone pole and he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release
The preliminary investigation shows speed and icy roads were contributing factors, according to the release.
Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 443-409-3324. The cause remains under investigation.
No other passengers were in the vehicle.
Mr. Mickey's death is the fourth on Harford County roads this year, all of which have been at least partly attributed to weather conditions, according to police agencies that investigated.
A Fallston man was killed Thursday night as he walked with a snow blower along Harford Road near his home and was struck by a dark colored Jeep Cherokee that then fled the scene, according to Maryland State Police. The driver of the Jeep Cherokee remained at large as of Sunday morning.
