The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Department reported Monday that an infant passenger injured April 6 in a two-car crash has died.
Sgt. Mike Crater said the child died the morning of April 8 and the department was notified by the Washtenaw County medical examiner’s office. The child, whose name was not released, was one of three passengers in a car injured in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Horton Road and Lyons Highway.
The crash report is being forwarded to the Lenawee County Prosecutor’s Office for review, Crater said.
Darcy Nicole Adams, 27, of Belleville was eastbound on Horton Road when she failed to stop at a stop sign in the intersection and collided with a southbound vehicle driven by Benny Wayne Wilkerson, 52, of Morenci.
Wilkerson was arrested after his blood-alcohol content at the scene measured 0.13, more than the state’s legal limit of 0.08, according to a report released by the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Department.
Adams was transported by ambulance to ProMedica Bixby Hospital in Adrian for treatment of moderate injuries. The children were properly restrained, according to the sheriff’s department.
