Two people were killed in a head-on-crash in Norfolk early Wednesday morning, police said.

The incident happened shortly after 1 a.m. in the 2900 block of E. Little Creek Road, near Nancy Drive, according to a Norfolk Police Department news release.Investigators think a 39-year-old woman driving a Chrysler 200 in the wrong direction struck a black Hyundai Sonata head-on, police said. The woman died from her injuries at the scene. The driver of the Sonata, a 26-year-old man, was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he died.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and there were no passengers, police said.
