Wichita, KS : 63-year-old man killed when car slams into bridge pillar on I-135 at Kellogg on Sunday afternoon, Nov 22, 2015

A 63-year-old man was killed Sunday afternoon in Wichita when he lost control of his car and it slammed into a bridge pillar, authorities said. The crash was reported at 12:45 p.m. at Interstate 135 and Kellogg.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol crash log, James G. Depriest was driving a 1998 Toyota RAV4, entering southbound I-135 from westbound Kellogg, when he lost control on the entrance ramp.

The vehicle left the roadway and struck a bridge pillar at southbound I-135 to eastbound US-54 highway.

Depriest was pronounced dead at the scene. The patrol said he was wearing a seat belt.

There were no other occupants in the RAV4.
