Marietta, GA : Pedestrian killed in wreck in west Cobb on Wednesday, February 2nd 2017

A Powder Springs man was killed in a wreck in west Cobb on Wednesday evening after a car hit him while he was walking in the road, according to Cobb police.

The wreck occurred near Lost Mountain Park on Midway Road at about 6:45 p.m. when a black Honda Pilot was heading south and hit a pedestrian in the southbound lane, according to police.

The pedestrian, later identified as 39-year-old Jeremy P. Mathis, was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital and pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.

Police say the driver of the Honda was Vivian E. Bonilla-Cruz, 42, also of Powder Springs.

The wreck is still being investigated, and police ask anyone with information to call 770-499-3987.
