Omaha, NE : Two women seriously injured in Interstate 80 crash on Tuesday morning, June 21, 2016

Two Omaha women suffered serious injuries Tuesday morning in a crash on eastbound Interstate 80 near the Q Street exit ramp.

Police said their investigation found that a 2004 Ford Explorer was stopped on the shoulder of eastbound I-80 around 8:45 a.m. An eastbound 2013 Toyota pickup truck failed to maintain its lane and struck the stopped Explorer, police said. The vehicles left the roadway and eventually came to rest in a grass shoulder, police said.

Both drivers were taken to Nebraska Medical Center with serious, nonlife-threatening injuries, police said.
The Toyota’s driver, Heather Stufft, 46, Omaha, was not wearing a seat belt, police said. Stufft was treated for abdominal injuries.

Police said she admitted to receiving a hands-free phone call prior to the crash and said she didn’t remember anything after the accident.

The driver of the Ford, Tiffany Easterling, 30, Omaha, was wearing a seat belt, police said. She was treated for chest injuries.

Police said the eastbound I-80 Q Street exit ramp was restricted by one lane while the crash was investigated. Nebraska Department of Roads portable message boards were used to warn traffic of the crash.
The roadway was completely reopened around 11:10 a.m., police said.
