LIGONIER, IN : Cromwell man dies in crash on Sunday, October, 22nd 2017
A search by emergency crews for Cromwell man following a single-vehicle crash ended with a family member finding him near the scene.
According to Noble County deputies, Oscar Estrada Jr., 20, was found by a family member, who then called police. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:44 a.m.
Officers reported that at 6:58 a.m., Noble County dispatchers were notified of a crash on C.R. 450 North, near 100 West. A vehicle had rolled over.
Deputies arrived and found that the vehicle had slid on the road, left the north side and began to roll until it eventually came to rest in a tree line.
Neighbors, officers and others checked the area for the driver and were unable to locate him. Officers then attempted to make contact with the registered owner of the vehicle and his friends and relatives.
About 20 minutes after the vehicle was removed from the scene and the area was cleared, dispatchers received a call from a family member that Estrada had been located close to the scene and was unresponsive.
Officers, first responders and paramedics went to the scene and found Estrada with his family members. They attempted to resuscitate him, but were unsuccessful, police said.
The crash remains under investigation.
