Pueblo, CO : 1 seriously hurt after crash in Pueblo County on Monday, 26th September 2016
A male was flown to Parkview Medical Center following a two-vehicle crash on Colorado 165 on Monday afternoon. The Colorado State Patrol said around 4:15 p.m. a 1995 Jeep Wrangler was heading north on Colorado 165 while a 1995 Isuzu Rodeo was heading south.
The Jeep was passing two vehicles over a double yellow line when the Isuzu approached southbound.
Both vehicles swerved to avoid a head-on crash and the Jeep side-swiped the Isuzu on its passenger side, according to the patrol.
After impact, the Isuzu lost its front passenger-side wheel and came to a stop on the northbound shoulder of the road.
The Jeep went off the left side of the roadway and corrected back onto the roadway and began to roll. The Jeep rolled several times and came to rest on its roof in the north lane facing south.
The driver of the Jeep, who was identified by the patrol as Richard Ansell, 18, of Colorado City, was ejected during the rollover sequence. He was flown to Parkview Medical Center with serious injuries.
Ansell was not wearing a seat belt, the patrol said. There were no occupants riding with him.
The driver of the Isuzu was not injured and neither was the lone passenger in the vehicle.
The patrol said excessive speed is suspected as a factor in the wreck.
