A 23-year-old Oklahoma City man died Friday night in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 35 near Purcell.

Derrick Austin Martin, 23, was driving a 2000 Ford F-150 south on I-35 shortly before 11:30 p.m. when the vehicle left the road for an unknown reason, according to a news release.

The truck hit the guardrail, continued into the center median, rolled and came to a stop on top of the cable barrier. Martin was thrown 20 feet from the vehicle and suffered multiple injuries.

He was taken to a Purcell hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the report said.

The accident report says his seat belt was not being used and the airbags did not deploy.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
