Claymont, DE : Driver dies after spinning out on I-495; five other cars involved in crash on Saturday, 18th April, 2020 32 sec ago

A 30-year-old man from Newark died Saturday night after losing control of his car and spinning out across the south lanes of I-495, according to Delaware State Police.

As drivers tried to avoid debris from the wreck and cars that stopped near the crash, five additional cars crashed or received damage, leading to a shutdown of the highway for about four hours, according to police.

Police said four people sustained non-life-threatening injuries — one of the drivers and three children who were passengers. The four other drivers involved were not injured, according to police.
