A Lawrence man is dead after the car he was in crashed Sunday afternoon on an Oklahoma highway.
Christopher Alexander Partee, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Interstate 35 in Carter County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at 3:32 p.m., police said, when an unknown car attempted a U-turn in front of the northbound 2002 Ford Expedition driven by Sevon L. Covington, 26, of Topeka.
Covington tried to avoid the turning vehicle and overcorrected, causing the SUV to slide and roll.
Partee, according to police, was ejected from the car. Both men were wearing their seat belts and the air bags deployed, police said.
Covington and a second passenger, Terrell Anthony Terry, 26, also from Topeka, were taken from the scene to Mercy Hospital in Ardmore, Okla., where they were treated and released, police said.
Despite the information provided, police said the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
