Franklin Square, NY : BMW driver charged with manslaughter in fatal taxi crash on Long Island on Saturday, April 23, 2016

A cab driver has been killed and another driver has been arrested after a crash on Long Island.

The crash happened at 4:15 a.m. Saturday on Hempstead Turnpike in Franklin Square.

Nassau County police say 23-year-old Duke Obule, of Queens, was speeding in a BMW when he struck a taxi and pushed it across two lanes of traffic into a utility pole.

The taxi driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim's name was not immediately released.

A 20-year-old female passenger from the taxi was treated for an ankle fracture.

Obule was arrested on charges including manslaughter, unlicensed driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

It wasn't clear if he had an attorney who could speak on his behalf.
