Huntsville, TX : Local man injured in motorcycle wreck on Tuesday morning, February 7, 2017

A Walker County man was seriously injured when his motorcycle rear-ended another vehicle Tuesday morning.

According to a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety, the man, whose name has not been released, was traveling on U.S. Highway 190 when traffic began to slow down. The front of his motorcycle clipped the back of another vehicle, causing it to fall on its side.

The driver of the vehicle that was rear-ended help the injured motorcyclist to the side of the road, but police say he left the scene before emergency personnel arrived.

The motorcyclist was flown to Memorial Hermann Hospital with nonlife threatening injuries.

“It was kind of weird that the person that wasn’t at fault fled the scene, but it is not uncommon,” Sgt. Steven McNeil said Tuesday. “The trooper who worked the accident said the guy on the motorcycle appeared to have a broken left leg. He might have suffered internal injuries which is why Life Flight was called.”
