LIVERMORE, CA : Lodi man dead after crash on northbound Isabel Avenue at the East Jack London Boulevard intersection on Thursday, 30th May 2019

A 27-year-old Lodi man died early Thursday after crashing into the back of a tractor-trailer on a major street, police said.

The wreck happened on northbound Isabel Avenue at the East Jack London Boulevard intersection about 3 a.m., police said. The man, who drove a 2015 Kia, died at the scene, Livermore police spokeswoman Joanna Johnson said.

The truck driver wasn’t injured.

Police are investigating, but Johnson said it is too early to determine how the crash happened or whether drugs or alcohol were involved.

Police closed all lanes of northbound Isabel Avenue for about five hours after the wreck. The crash had a minimal impact on the morning commute, which is heaviest in the southbound direction, Johnson said. All southbound lanes remained open.

Police opened the lanes about 8 a.m., she said.
