Two people were injured, one of them seriously, in a two-car accident in Nokomis Sunday afternoon, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
Robert James Jennings and Mary Sarle, both of Sarasota, were taken to hospitals after the accident about 3:30 p.m.
According to an FHP press release, a 2009 Hyundai Sante Fe driven by Jennings and a 2011 Ford F150 driven by Drew Trainer were heading north on Mission Valley Boulevard approaching Pacer Street when Jennings, 74, slowed to make a right turn onto Pacer. Trainer, 34, failed to slow and struck the rear of Jennings’ vehicle, causing the Sante Fe to spin and overturn, the FHP reported.
Jennings was taken by Bayflight to Sarasota Memorial Hopsital, while Sarle, 68, a passenger in Jennings’ vehicle, was taken by ambulance to Venice Regional Bayfront Health hospital. Jennings’ injuries were listed as serious while Sarel’s were minor, according to the FHP. Both were wearing seat belts.
