Miramar, CA: Driver dies in crash at SR-52/I-15 on Friday, July 17th 2015

A male driver died in a single-vehicle crash into a utility pole at state Route 52 and Interstate 15 early Friday, the California Highway Patrol said.The impact knocked down the metal light pole and had the interchange near Miramar closed for hours.The crash was reported about 1:45 a.m. at the ramp from westbound Route 52 to northbound I-15, the CHP said. Witnesses reported that the Toyota Camry was being driven recklessly, at more than 80 mph, with the headlights going off and on.The car swerved off the transition ramp, ran up a slope, hit the pole and rolled, the CHP said. Officers and fire crews found the driver dead in the mangled car wreckage.Officers didn't find any identification in the car or on the man, the CHP said.The investigation and cleanup took more than two hours and the freeway lanes were reopened by 4:30 a.m.
