NEVADA COUNTY, CA : 1 dead, driver hurt in suspected DUI crash in Nevada County on Sunday, 21st April 2024

One person was killed and another was taken to the hospital after a suspected DUI crash in Nevada County.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 2 a.m. along Highway 49, north of Oak Drive.

Police said a 2016 Volkswagen Passat was heading northbound when the driver tried to negotiate a right curve in the road and let the car drift off the right side of the highway. The car hit several oak trees while going down a steep hillside embankment until it stopped its side about 45 feet from the road.
