Volga, S.D : Two injured in collision with fertilizer spreader in rural Volga on Friday, March 24, 2017
Two people were injured when their vehicle collided with a fertilizer spreader Friday in rural Volga, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident was reported at 2:45 p.m. Friday, said Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring.
Remington Miller, 24, of Madison, was driving a 2012 Terragator Fertilizer spreader westbound on 216th Street and was required to stop for the stop sign as the intersection is posted for the east and westbound traffic to stop, Sebring said.
Ilene Peterson, 78, of Volga, was driving a 2010 GMC Terrain SLT northbound on 464th Avenue and collided with Miller’s vehicle.
Peterson was transported by the Brookings Ambulance to the Brookings hospital with unknown injuries. Darrell Demaray, 79, of Nunda, who was a passenger in Peterson’s vehicle, was transported with a possible injury to the Brookings hospital by a private party.
Miller was issued a citation for a stop sign violation and the accident is under the investigation with the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
Also responding to the scene were the Sinai First Responders and Volga First Responders.
