SIMI VALLEY, CA : Woodland Hills, CA : Off-duty LAPD officer killed in Simi Valley crash with Uber driver on Thursday, January 5th 2017

An off-duty Los Angeles Police Department officer was killed in a traffic collision involving an on-duty Uber driver in Simi Valley early New Year’s Day, according to police.

The deceased victim was identified as LAPD Devonshire Division Officer Heather Monroe, 30, of Simi Valley, according to Simi Valley Police Department Cmdr. Robert Arabian. Three others were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, he said.

At about 2:11 a.m. Sunday, Monroe was a passenger in a Scion tC that was heading southbound on Sycamore Drive when it entered the intersection at Cochran Street and collided with a Nissan Maxima — driven by an Uber driver — that was traveling east on Cochran Street, Simi Valley police Cmdr. Robert Brill and Arabian said.
