Lasvegas, NV : Two killed, one arrested for DUI in northwest valley crash on Saturday, November 12th 2016
Two men were killed Saturday night in a crash in the northwest valley that resulted in a driver’s arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence.
About 8:12 p.m., a 23-year old man in a Hyundai Sonata attempted to make a U-turn from the right travel lane of Rainbow Boulevard just north of the intersection of Yorktown Road, near Smoke Ranch Road, according to Metro Police. He pulled in front of a Chevrolet Camaro, which police said was traveling “grossly over the speed limit of 35 miles per hour” and struck the Sonata on the left side.
The driver of the Sonata and a 22-year-old male passenger were both pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Willie Worthams, the 25-year-old driver of the Camaro, displayed signs of impairment, according to Metro. He was taken to university Medical Center and was arrested on two counts of driving under the influence involving death and two counts of reckless driving involving death.
The accident remains under investigation.
The deaths mark the 98th and 99th traffic-related fatalities in Metro's jurisdiction this year.
