Lynchburg, VA : Six people injured after a two-vehicle wreck in Lynchburg on Tuesday, October 25, 2016

Six people were transported to a hospital following a two-vehicle wreck that closed a portion of Oakley Avenue in Lynchburg on Tuesday, police said.

Lynchburg Police Officer M.D. Bauserman said the crash occurred at 4:54 p.m. at the intersection of the 900 block of Oakley Avenue and the 700 block of Euclid Avenue.

Bauserman said a 2004 Pontiac minivan driven by 36-year-old LaTonya Forrest, of Lynchburg, was waved into incoming traffic while trying to make a turn when it was hit by a 2004 Dodge Durango driven by 41-year-old Nicole Anthony, of Lynchburg.

Forrest, along with three child passengers ages 4, 7 and 13, were transported to Lynchburg General Hospital. Bauserman said they had non-life threatening injuries and were doing OK. Anthony and her passenger, 52-year-old Joyce Hubbard, of Lynchburg, also were transported to Lynchburg General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Bauserman said Forrest was ticketed with failure to yield to the right of way and expired state inspection along with two charges of failure to wear seat belt and two charges of no child seat violations.

Bauserman said the road was closed for 30 to 45 minutes as crews worked to clear the scene. He said both cars are totaled.
