Port Angeles,WA : Boy accidentally run over near Chimacum in stable condition on April, Sunday 15th 2018
A 2½-year-old boy accidentally run over by his father Sunday was released from Harborview Medical Center’s emergency room and is in stable condition, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
The boy was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center after his father accidentally ran him over on a property on West Valley Road in Chimacum on Sunday morning, said Sgt. Mark Apeland.
He said the boy is suffering from a femur fracture, a bilateral clavicle fracture and a pleural effusion. Apeland said in an email Monday morning the boy had been admitted into “pediatrics or other floor at Harborview,” and that he was “stable and talking.”
The boy was airlifted to the Seattle hospital from the field at Chimacum High School on Sunday at around noon.
The boy “was run over by the tires of the truck,” Apeland said Sunday. He said the father was maneuvering his Chevrolet Silverado on the boy’s grandmother’s property near the school.
The man’s son got in front of the truck without him noticing and a front wheel of the truck ran the boy over, Apeland said.
He said after the accident the father drove his son to the school, where it would be easier for first responders to treat him.
Apeland called it “an unfortunate accident,” and said the father would not face any charges.
