Cobb County, GA : Marietta man critically injured in multivehicle wreck in the northbound lanes of I-75 on Friday, 24th April, 2020
A Marietta man suffered life-threatening injuries overnight following a multivehicle crash in the northbound lanes of I-75 in Cobb County, police said.According to investigators, 25-year-old Neelands Somarriba was struck from behind just before 3 a.m. Friday after stopping his 2012 Kia Rio in a lane near the Canton Road exit.The pickup truck that hit his car was a 2017 GMC Sierra driven by a 56-year-old Cobb County man, Marietta police spokesman Officer Chuck McPhilamy said. The impact of the collision caused the truck to leave the road. Somarriba’s car was then struck by a second vehicle, a 2020 Mazda CX-5 driven by a 29-year-old Rome man, authorities said. Somarriba was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. It’s still unclear why his car was stopped in the middle of the interstate.
