Dallas, OR : Falls City woman dead in two-car crash on 99W in Polk County on Saturday evening, November 26, 2016

The Oregon State Police are investigating after a Falls City woman died in a crash on Highway 99W in Polk County Saturday evening.

Troopers responded to the scene near milepost 70 around 6 p.m., where the preliminary investigation showed a 2002 Ford F250 pickup traveling west on Suver Road tried to cross the highway but was hit by a Honda driving south.

The driver of the Honda, 23-year-old Cecilia L Nicosia of Dallas, suffered serious injuries and was taken by helicopter to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Corvallis for treatment.

The passenger in the pickup, 24-year-old Sara L. Brown, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver, 25-year-old Matthew L. Serry, Brown’s husband, was not injured in the crash.

Investigators believe that neither Brown nor Serry were wearing their safety belts at the time of the crash.

Troopers closed the highway for nearly six hours for the investigation, and they were assisted by Polk County Sheriff's Office, Polk County Fire and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
